Red Octopus Launch Day

Red Octopus was launched today at Didsbury Golf Club and Northenden Golf Club.

I went round exchanging Business Cards.

Hitac Active was also launched and I have found this great app called Grammarly (password to Adam’s machine is grammarly and the email is redoctopusbusinessservices@gmail.com)

I hate having to remember all the passwords needed on my computer – I have a scrap of paper with them on and a book with some in – and now this reminder! – get organized!!!!

Grammarly is really great it is working on this blog – implementation was more simple on this machine I just let it use my google account for the password. Trouble is I can not remember the password so can’t log out.

Same with Facebook and they have done something  I keep getting a really annoying pop up that I can’t stop for the likes of trying. Anybody else had it and fixed it – let me know on the above email.

There is more – I have announced Red Octopus Trading cos I have found a company that supplies Polo Shirts at just £4. I get discount a Gatley Signs so I will get them branded and sell them for £20 less discount for just £17 – good business if I can find golfers to buy them.

Grammarly does not trap everything – just seen a typo after publishing, it is always the case. That is why the old days were somewhat better than today. You had time to write specifications and they were given to a skilled secretary to type them out, anything that did not read well was questioned.  Less productive but a joy to work with.

Cost of a secretary £15,000 per year – the cost of a laptop / do it yourself £200 no wonder Secretary Managers are so busy that they don’t get time for club websites – best leave the wwwy stuff to assistant professionals – they are young and IT Literate.

Status Report

Today I had a converstation wiith LV Media to discuss his charging mechanism, the cost of Hitec site and SEO.

It was decided that LV Media will enter the Manchester Discount Card Scheme.

We will not be engaging in  SEO at £200 per month for national coverage and  £90 for regional coverage.

I have a meeting  with Ian on Saturday to discuss the needs of Red Octopus.  If Ian can get near Godaddy rates for hosting and can provide me with FTP I will use him.  The next option is for me to supply website updates on a memory stick and have him FTP it.  Either way I will basically by wanting an FTP support function at £45 per hour less 30% discount.

My relationship with Hitech is that I am still a freelance consultant with them – that I will not have any dealings with LV Media and that I am not to discuss Hitec web requirements with them.

Hitec will have a working relationship with Red Octopus Business Services Limited and will be allowed to sell The Manchester Discount Card at £7 per card – and keep all the income form sales for provision of print services as and when required – Discounted to 10p per page.

I have removed the tag to recruitment from the Hitec Active  site – but a trace of it still remains on my blog – that will need some explaining.

My next visit to Hitec will be next Saturday at 12am – I recognise that I will have nothing to do but I will give them the opportunity to talk about a Hitec Promotional Event.

Todsay will be remembered for the Royal Wedding, the day that Alan and Sue got married in 1985, the day that Manchester United was at the cup final in 1985 and 2018.

It will also be remembered for the day that Alan returned to the IT Industry as a Freelance Consultant for Hitec Computers and the day that he started his third Limited Company called Red Octopus Business Services.

I will now start a project call Red Octopus Futures which is an evaluation of Angular and NOSQL.  I have already evaluated Angular at Verastar and have created a Telephone Directory for my personal use.

My first role with Hitec is that of Recruitment – they need a Technician. Somebody young who can drive. They are putting an age cap on the post which is exactly what keeps me out of the industry !
